Running Pants

Lesson of the day:
When the elastic is gone... it is gone! Don't try to put the pants on with worn out elastic and think you are going to have a good run. I tried today because I was too lazy to keep digging for another pair of running pants. Well... let's just say, I felt like one of the boys at high school that I teach that are always grabbing their pants because they are worried they will fall off because they are 5 sizes to big.
NOT A GOOD RUN... always tomorrow!

Quote of the Day

I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment that he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle- victorious.

Bought new shoes yesterday. Hopefully, they will be the right fit to get me through this. My other shoes, Nike Free, were awesome for short distances. They just dont have enough comfort or support for longer distances. I found myself having shin splints. I am trying to make sure I use stretches that I was taught by an awesome runner (Michelle Richards). So I went with the new Nike Moto8. So far, so good. Have not hit the road in a couple of days to let the shin heal.
Michael has been helping me hit the weights. He has not been taking no for an answer... which I secretly like! =) He is not the biggest fan of cardio... strength training is his strong point. I am proud of him because he has stepped up his cardio a little. He won't say it is to encourage me (but I know it is).
I am feeling really overwhelmed with this. I have NEVER ran more than a 5k and now I am trying to run a marathon... I have a great training plan. I am also stressing out about the fundraising. But I know that I can do all thing through Christ who strengthens me.

Quote of the Day

Now if you're going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

Today is that start of something great. As many of you know, my mother-in-law is now suffering from cancer for the 3rd time and my uncle is suffering from cancer as well. I have signed up with team in training to run on their team for the Disney Marathon in January. I know that I will go through many trials and tribulations throughout the training process. However, my trials will be nothing compared to what Nonie (mother-in-law) and Uncle Joe are going through.
I am trying to raise money for cancer research. My personal goal is $1900. Not everyone has the ability or health to run a marathon, but almost everyone has the ability to donate money for a worthy cause. Even $1 will make a difference.
Thanks and stay posted! Updates to come!
